Attempted Normalcy...

After the overall insanity of the past two weeks, I'm trying my best to get into some form of a routine, though that's proving to be a bit of a challenge. *sigh* I guess that's going to be the routine for a while, actually, the utter LACK of one. Oh well. Such is my life, and I'm learning slowly but surely just to deal with it.

Halloween was a lovely distraction. Matt and I attended our annual cul-de-sac pot luck Friday afternoon. I brought Halloween cake truffles and we snacked on potato soup and chili while the neighborhood kids ran around in a sugar-anticipatory frenzy, waiting for the signal to start trick or treating. Advance notice this year coupled with plenty of free time on my part=a bang up effort spooking up the house with decorations. I'm getting soft in my old age and wanted the decorations to be creepy but not too scary. I think we achieved that, only a few details were really scary, and only one little one was to timid to come up the steps. The adults seemed to really love what we did, and more than one person said we had the best looking house in the neighborhood. Matt and I hung out on the porch handing out candy till about 8:30, when we finally packed it in for the evening, and retired to the living room with veggie pizza, a fire, and "Son of Frankenstein". All in all a very successful holiday. :)

With no job to speak of at the moment, I've been trying use this extra time to get several projects well off the ground. Yesterday I spent the afternoon tilling the new flower beds all around the house, and today I'm only slightly sore ;) Also this week I've been in hot pursuit of a position in a bakery, and on Wednesday I start another class specializing in gum paste flowers for cakes, a nice boost to my 'cake resume'. Hopefully I'll hear something from the bakery soon one way or another. This morning the dogs and I went for our usual walk in the park and while the light was so lovely I took a ton of pictures. I'm planning on starting some paintings from these and getting my etsy shop off the ground in a few weeks. So, even though the days are suddenly a lot more open, I'm still keeping quite busy! Keep your fingers crossed that all this buzz turns into some income opportunities soon!
