Hello Again :)

So the short version?
We're back, FL was great, it's really hot here, and no, I don't know anything yet.

The extended version? Absolutely! Love to!

It rained four and a half days of my vacation. You might think this ruined our plans, but not really. We did a bit more loafing indoors than out, but otherwise, it was exactly the low key, completely unexciting or eventful vacation Matt and I had our hopes set on. It was glorious. Even if there was a squirrel corpse present for most of it. We spent all the sunny moments in the pool, over-ate at all our favorite dives (and a few fancy ones), bought Matt birthday presents, and even visited the grown-up, thirtysomething equivalent of Disney World--the IKEA in Orlando. I didn't cook much, but the fried shrimp and fish tacos I made for lunch one day were my best yet--there's something magical about seafood in Florida, even if it did come from Publix*. I even spent several relaxing hours at the spa, getting an "ultimate pedicure". I think I may be addicted. The drive sucks, and I thought we'd never get home, but it was exactly the rejuvenating week I needed.

*on a completely unrelated side note, there is confirmation brewing that there IS a Publix coming to Hardin Valley, which is further proof that prayers DO get answered.

Now we're back and it's taken me three days to come close to catching up, but it's definitely good to be home. As much rain as we got in Florida, I was hoping a smidge had reached K-town, but alas, that was not the case, as my crunchy potted plans attested. I've saved what I could and tossed the rest, replacing the ones by the front door with Mums and Gerber Daisies. This summer has been completely weird, weather wise, and I think most of my plants are just exhausted from trying to survive--now we're in transition, summer's over, but it's not quite fall, and I've got my fingers crossed that the heat will let up soon so we can spend some more time outdoors. I've got a laundry list of projects to start, as usual ;)

So... the Daisy Bee Bees report:
Before we left I had an appointment with the nutritionist which actually went beautifully. She approved of nearly everything I was doing, diet-wise, and agreed that the way we eat was pretty fantastic anyway and just required a little tweaking. What we did discover was that I was being a bit too reactionary to my glucose readings when they were high--if I got one I didn't like, for the rest of the day I was avoiding carbs like the plague, and she said that can actually cause greater fluctuations rather than bringing things under control. She told me instead to be sure to eat carbs at every meal and even as a snack, as long as I was keeping the total carbs each time under 30 grams, and that would help me maintain a much more regular glucose level. My PA came in for part of the meeting also, and we all talked and agreed to add another medication to my regimen that has brought down my blood sugar even more, to near-normal levels most days, which has been fantastic. Today I did finally get a call from the office, but instead of giving me my test results over the phone, they told me they wanted me to come in and conference with the doctor--I have no idea, really, what this means, but I do get the feeling that if the tests came back without pointing to Cushings, they would have just told me so. My appointment is for 9:30 tomorrow (the earliest one they had open), so--once AGAIN--keep your fingers crossed that this time we've got some real answers. I'll be posting the minute I get back to let you all know the results, so, yeah, stay tuned!

Also this week (hopefully) I'll get around to an entry with pictures ;) I missed you guys!

I'm glad you had a nice relaxing holiday, and am happy to hear about your doctor visit. Hey, it's good you got here last week pre-Fay, even though it did rain on you a lot. Can't wait to see your pictures!
